No one wants to buy insurance
Cut to the chase—no one wants to buy insurance.
In all the years I’ve been in the insurance business, no one
has ever rushed in, all excited about buying a policy.
We all look forward to buying a home, a car, new equipment or a boat.
But some of the fun quickly disappears when it comes to writing the
check for insurance.
More often than not, buying insurance can seem like a pure waste of
money—money that could be better spent on something else.
You may have had a claim and were told that it wasn’t covered
by your policy. And you said, “Then why have I been paying for
insurance all these years?”
If such experiences make you think insurance people are pretty good
at pulling the wool over your eyes, you may have a point.
All this may sound strange—even confusing—coming from
an insurance agent.
But let’s face it. For 50 years, we’ve tried to make people
like insurance. It hasn’t worked.
If you want to find out where I’m going in this discussion of
insurance, look for the next column.
