When speed is a blur
Just when we think nothing more can happen, it does. Two hurricanes
changed our driving habits and the economy, not to mention the lives
of several million Americans.
And think about all those cell phones. If you buy a phone today, it’s
obsolete before you make your first call. We can literally have it
all—phone, music, photos, TV programs, videos, email. Who knows
what’s coming next?
In Africa, they say the cell phone is quickly transforming the
continent’s economic landscape. Fishermen decide the best time
to cast their nets after checking on market conditions. Farmers shop
wholesalers to find the best prices for their products.
Most of us have been taught to think about the long-term. That’s
necessary, of course. But remember when we said that were waiting
to buy a computer until “they got all the bugs out.” Those
who waited often found themselves trying to play catch up. Some still
haven’t.
Those who do well in business are ready to change even when they would
like more time to make decisions due to limited information
Because of rapid change, we need the right tools to protect us from
unnecessary risk. Today’s business insurance is designed to
help companies perform better and protect them from the “what
ifs” of rapid change.
Replacing a building and equipment is easy, but what about a lost
supplier or a costly lawsuit? You’re an expert in your field;
we know how to manage today’s risks.
