“Just hanging out, dad.”
“Where would you like to be in five or ten years?” This
once popular question is almost never heard today. And for good reason.
Who has the time to think about next week, let alone five years from
now?
You probably noticed that time seems to be changing. There’s
never enough of it. If we had to buy it, a minute’s worth would
go for more than a gallon of gas.
This is why dashboard and desktop dining are so popular today. Campbell’s
“drinkable” soups that fit in your car’s cup holder
raked in $250,000 million last year.
And then there’s “yogurt-in-a-tube.” Whether at
your desk or in the car, just pretend you’re squeezing a toothpaste
tube. “Bon appetit!”
Snack-size packs of carrots that are scraped, cut and ready-to-eat
give a healthy touch to dashboard or desktop dining. It’s no
accident that “wraps” or “rollups” are the
rage today. Sandwiches are so “yesterday,” as they say.
A rollup’s the perfect “hold-in-one-hand” meal!
No need to look for a spoon. No need for a napkin. No fuss, no muss
and no lost time.
So, don’t be surprised if your kids ask, “Mom, what’s
a fork?”
Maybe kids are smarter than we think. They may have it right when
you ask them what they’re doing tonight. “Just hanging
out, dad.”
