Helbach Appointed to InsurPac National Board of Directors

MOSINEE,
WI (August 21, 2006) Thomas Helbach, president of Mosinee Insurance Agency, Inc., of Mosinee, WI, has been appointed to the Board of Trustees of InsurPac, the Political Action Committee of the Independent Insurance Agents and Brokers of America (IIABA).

"The strength of IIABA comes from the involvement of its members," says Alex Soto, CPCU, ARM, and president-elect of IIABA. "In my opinion, Tom Helbach epitomizes the dedicated participation of our volunteer members. I know that he will undertake his duties on the board in a way that will be meaningful and fruitful for IIABA."

Helbach has long been a driving force for InsurPac in Wisconsin. He has led fundraising efforts in his state for the past five years, during which time he has single-handedly taken a state that raised a total of only $875 in 2001 to a state that has routinely reached its $18,000 goal, one of only five states to do so in both of the last two years. For his leadership in Wisconsin, Helbach earned national recognition earlier this year when he received the Bernard J. Burns Award from InsurPac during the IIABA National Legislative Conference, which took place April 28 in Washington, D.C. The Burns award is the highest award bestowed upon a volunteer by the IIABA.

In addition to his InsurPac duties, Helbach is now president-elect of the Independent Insurance Agents of Wisconsin, his professional trade association. He was also selected Agent of the Year for 2005 by that organization.

Helbach will begin his one-year term on the national board of directors on September 1.

InsurPac was established in 1975 to complement the legislative program of the IIABA and has since become the largest property-casualty insurance industry PAC in the country. It is one of the reasons that the IIABA routinely ranks among the most successful lobbying groups in Washington, DC.

Founded in 1896, the IIABA is the nation’s oldest and largest national association of independent insurance agents and brokers, representing a network of more than 300,000 agents, brokers and their employees nationally. Its members are businesses that offer customers a choice of policies from a variety of insurance companies. Independent agents and brokers offer all lines of insurance—property, casualty, life, and health—as well as employee benefit plans and retirement products. Web address: www.independentagent.com.
